Knights of Columbus Council 5480

The Virginia State Council hosted a "Tidewater Knights night at the Tides."  State Deputy, and Council 5480 member, Ron Gorman threw the first pitch!

Three brothers KELWYN D'SOUZA, ALEXANDER SCHRODER and DIEGO ZUNIGA were elevated to Sir Knight at the fourth degree exemplification in Norfolk on Saturday May 5th.

Birthday Night for April has been postphoned to May 25 and celebrated with the May Birthdays.  Thank you.

Movie Night for April has been cancelled due to renovations in the lounge.

We have wonderful husband and wife team who are being honored as Family for the Month of May. You will find them both on Monday nights unselfishly working the floor for BINGO, working hard for charity and supporting Our Lady of Mount Carmel School. They work and support their Parish activities and both are active in support of all the functions  that Our Lady of Mount Carmel School does in the community. We are blessed to have a family like John and Christina Wojtas. The time is now for all of us to emulate their dedication to our Council, Church and School. Let us congratulate them for all their efforts.

This Brother has committed his time, financial skills and hard work to the Knights for over 33 years. He is always available for financial guidance and ideas helpful to others in their work with the Council and the Club. This Knight is also amazing with his encyclopedia like knowledge of the history of the Council. Occasionally when asked, he says he is too busy or has something else already planned, but then he surprises you by being there for you. He has served for many years and continues to serve the Club as our Treasurer and Rental Agent, two very time consuming positions. He is the Council Advocate, chairman of the Scholarship Committee, member of the nominating committee and facilitates the filing of our tax statement with the Trustee’s, Financial Secretary and Grand Knight. On top of this, he still finds time to find a good movie for us to watch on the last Friday of the month in the lounge. Please join me in congratulating Joe Drozdoski as the Knight of the Month for May for his dedicated service to the Council and the Club.

A hearty congratulations to our brothers who completed the second degree to full Knighthood at the exemplification conducted on Tuesday, October 25^th at our council home.

District Deputy John Nicholson selects SK Thai Nguyen, PGK, District Warden as the evenings honoree. 

Eleven brothers received their first degree at a exemplification  ceremony on Tuesday, February 28^th.  The degree honoree was SK Joe Teta.  State Deputy, Ron Gorman, State Membership Director Steve Raschke, State Sweepstakes Director Jim Healy, State Health Services Director Len Carota,  District Deputy John Nicholson, and District Warden Thai Nguyen were in attendance. Father Ken Wood was introduced as the new Council Chaplain.

A second degree will be conferred on Tuesday, March 13th^@ 7:30pm. at 5480, followed by a 3^rd degree exemplification on Saturday March 24^th @ 11:00am at Charlottesville Catholic High School.

Council 5480 and Assembly 2430, with the assistance of Faithful Friar Henry Diesta, celebrated their annual Memorial Mass on Tuesday, 28 November 2011.  The Mass honors Brother Knights who have passed.  A special thanks to Brother David Litzinger who took pictures during Mass.
